"Last week, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov said that Ukraine's government had prepared a number of proposals for the IMF, which confirm the country's balanced fiscal policy for 2012, and the ability to settle the issue of the deficit of the national gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy's budget without raising gas tariffs for households.
Azarov said that Ukraine could do without the IMF loan, but Kyiv hoped for the resumption of financing under the stand-by arrangement with the IMF, since the country needed to cover the loan taken by the previous authorities in 2008-2009."
