"DOHA: The GCC region's aggregated trade balance is the largest in the world, according to analysis from QNB Group. The massive trade surplus, mainly a consequence of hydrocarbon exports, is estimated to have reached a record $520 billion in 2011. This is twice the size of the country with the next largest surplus, China, and is also about two-thirds the size of the US's trade deficit.
Saudi Arabia was responsible for almost half of the total surplus ($245 billion) followed by the UAE ($94 billion) and Qatar ($79 billion)."
