''A ‘Kosovo plan’ for Syria''

"The West is counting on isolating Russia among the P-5, by wooing China. The western media is circulating reports that China may merely abstain apropos another resolution on Syria. According to a AFP report from Beijing, Chinese foreign minister Yang Jiechi has personally held out the assuranceto the Arab League states that Beijing would not block a humanitarian mission being mounted. 

On the constitutional referendum in Syria, Moscow has backed the referendum unequivocally. Beijing is yet to comment. However, an early Xinhua commentary replete with ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’, broadly is supportive of the referendum. The Global Times was more explicit: “China should stand by Russia and support the vote [in Syria]… China and Russia should support and urge Assad’s regime to reform…”
