'Wachovia cheated investors by inflating markups, SEC says'

"When it was unable to find a buyer, Wachovia marked down the value of an investment to 52.7 cents on the dollar. But months later, it sold the investment to the Zuni tribe and another investor for 90 and 95 cents on the dollar, the SEC said. Those prices were 70 percent higher than the value Wachovia had given the investment for accounting purposes, the SEC said."............read it here
