"ANOTHER Ipswich manufacturing business is set to close due to pressure from cheap overseas imports, the strong Australian dollar and a domestic slowdown in sales.
Unless there is a sudden surge in orders before August 19, Kingwall Manufacturing, whose factory has been operating for 59 years, will have to offer redundancies to 41 staff in the coming weeks.
Owners Jeff and Wayne Wallace said it was a “heartbreaking” decision to give staff notice that their jobs could be lost, but said they had done everything they possibly could to avoid the closure.
The bedroom furniture manufacturer supplies retail outlets across Australia, including big names such as Harvey Norman, 40 Winks and Snooze Australia.
