From 'There are no Sunglasses'
Intro by Peter
''The all-encompassing term "al-Qaeda," is a
descriptive term, used when referring to the principle of Saudi/Wahhabi
oversight. There is no such animal as "al-Qaeda," the alleged
international terrorist organization, but there IS a Saudi terrorist
organization of global reach. The supposedly super-scary Algerian
incident was NOT the work of an International Islamist, but simply the
work of Algerian militant Muslims. The alleged "all-Qaeda" link is the
Saudi/Wahhabi influence that makes news-bites from all such groups sound
the same. That is all the Western press needs to create the myth of
AL-Q. Every step taken over the years by the group of terrorists known
as Al-Q is a step taken by the Saudi royals, to implement their own
agenda (which is shared with the CIA), moving in an ocean of
petrodollars, hoping to secure their own global empire. CIA patronage
of this Saudi "Islamist" force for many decades, is the controlling
power which allows the Saudis to keep expanding their subversive reach,
while enabling them to direct where the Islamists are allowed to
blow-off jihadi steam, without damaging Saudi/US interests.''

''IS THIS REAL REASON FOR CIA CHIEF’S RESIGNATION?''
From 'There are no Sunglasses'

''Libya Fiasco Exposes Chain of Incompetent Generals In Charge At the Pentagon''
From All Africa Via 'There are no Sunglasses'
''The extramarital affair cited for the resignation of CIA chief Gen Petraeus is insignificant by far compared to his belonging to a section of US military and intelligence elite pursuing a complex right-wing global agenda.
Carter Ham has been removed as head of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM). General Petraeus resigned from the CIA on November 9. Rear Adm. Charles M. Gaouette was reassigned on October 26 as the commander of the USS John C. Stennis strike group. These three changes at the top of the US military establishment are all related to the failed NATO intervention in North Africa and the subsequent war and killings that have been unleashed by militias in Libya, especially in Benghazi.''

Pepe Escobar: ''Skyfall, starring David Petraeus''
From Asia Times Online
''David Petraeus was more of a PR genius than a samurai to begin with. His cinematic model would be Captain Willard as played by Martin Sheen in Coppola's Apocalypse Now; the warrior intellectual. Petraeus, who for quite a while actively positioned himself as a possible presidential candidate in 2012, was clever enough to sell to US public opinion - and gullible mainstream media - the notion that he was a winner in both Iraq and Afghanistan. These are two monumental fallacies.''

''USAID/CIA supporting dictators and stifling democracy''
From Voice of Russia
“Clearly their main focus is not to give foreign aid to a country, it is basically to advance the US economic interests” says Dr. Stuart Jeanne Bramhall a researcher, writer, political-activist and blogger, who has studied the activities of USAID for years, spoke with about USAID and their ties to the CIA. Her research has shown that USAID and the CIA promote dictators and are against Democracy which allows corporations to maintain high-profit margins and allows the US to control resources.''

''Global Drug Mafia and the Banks. An Introduction to the Subject''
From Strategic Culture
''The 2001 NATO invasion of Afghanistan – with the stated goal of hunting down terrorists - provides a stark example of an operation designed to establish a situation conductive to the expansion of the drug business in a whole country. Its actual result was a boost of drug output – of heroin and opium – in the settings of the international occupation. The Talibs who ruled Afghanistan prior to the coalition offensive managed to induce a considerable reduction of poppy farming, whereas the intervention led to an increase of drug production in Afghanistan by orders of magnitude and to the conversion of the country into the world's top narcotics supplier… Analysts, in fact, suggested that the September 11 terrorist attacks could have been arranged to help the drug business spread globally under the protection of the Western military coalition. Stratfor Sources: ''U.S. Troops in Mexico as Feds Aid Cartels''
From The New American
''Federal authorities in the United States have been quietly supporting certain Mexican criminal empires, especially the Sinaloa drug cartel, in a bid to solidify the syndicates’ reign as dominant powerbrokers in particular territories, according to leaked e-mails from a U.S.-based Mexican diplomat to the private intelligence firm Stratfor. If cartel chiefs cooperate with authorities, “governments will allow controlled drug trades,” the diplomatic source wrote.
Other information unearthed so far in the leak, much of it coming from a variety of sources, was equally explosive. One 2011 e-mail from an individual described by Stratfor as “a US law enforcement officer with direct oversight of border investigations,” for example, indicated that American troops were already operating in Mexico under the guise of the drug war.''

''Drug War Mexico: Politics, Neoliberalism and Violence in the New Narcoeconomy''

''A brief history of drug cultivation, use, and state power in Mexico opens the book, which then delves into anti-drugs initiatives in Mexico from the 1970s onwards. By the time of the presidency of Luis EcheverrÃa (1970-1976), write Watt and Zepeda, the government of Mexico was already associating "all types of political activism with criminality and frequently with drug trafficking." Watt and Zepeda set up the national and international context at the time, painting in broad strokes the Mexico where the CIA and the DEA began to set up a "permanent drug war."

''End to USAID Spying Looms in Latin America''
how much does it cost taxpayers to have CIA stationed all over the world????..............From Strategic Culture
"In Latin America, USAID has long earned a reputation of an organization whose offices are, in fact, intelligence centers scheming to undermine legitimate governments in a number of the continent's countries. The truth that USAID hosts CIA and US Defense Intelligence Agency operatives is not deeply hidden, as those seem to have played a role in every Latin American coup, providing financial, technical, and ideological support to respective oppositions. USAID also typically seeks engagement with the local armed forces and law-enforcement agencies, recruiting within them agents ready to lend a hand to the opposition when the opportunity arises."

Paul Craig Roberts: ''USA to continue its wars as long as dollar remains reserve currency''
From Pravda
''Pravda.Ru interviewed Paul Craig Roberts, an American economist, who served as an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury in the Reagan Administration and became a co-founder of Reaganomics - the economic policies promoted by the U.S. President Ronald Reagan during the 1980s. We asked Mr. Roberts to share his views about the current state of affairs inside and outside the United States. ''
Q: During the 80s,
relying on the revived economic power of the United States, Ronald
Reagan managed to convince the Soviet government to end the Cold War.
All those agreements, as you believe, were destroyed by Reagan's
successors. Russia shares a completely different opinion about Reagan.
The Russians think of him as the man, who resumed the arms race,
designed the space shield and "cut out the cancer of communism" having
won (or maybe bribed) Gorbachev over to his side for cooperation. Maybe
one shouldn't strike him out of the list of the authors of today's
American "idiotism?"
A: Reagan was not a
member of the Republican Establishment. He defeated the Establishment's
candidate, George H. W. Bush (father of George W. Bush) for the
Republican presidential nomination. By appealing to Democratic as well
as Republican voters, Reagan had a great electoral victory. Reagan had
two goals: one was to end stagflation, the other was to end the cold
war. He was not much interested in anything else. The "arms race" and the
"anti-ballistic missile defense--star wars" were never real. They were
threats used to bring Gorbachev to negotiate the end of the cold war.
Unlike the present Republican Party, Reagan wanted peace, not war.''
The CIA opposed Reagan's effort to end
the cold war, as did the powerful military-security complex, about which
President Dwight Eisenhower warned the American people in his last
address to the American nation. The end of the cold war threatened the
profits of the powerful military industries and the power of the CIA.
The CIA said that the Soviet Union would
win an arms race, because the Soviet Union could control investment,
unlike the US, and could allocate the entire Gross Domestic Product of
the Soviet Empire to the military. Reagan's secret committee over-ruled
the CIA.''

''The CIA’s Islamist Terrorist Network''
From Strategic Culture
By Wayne Madsen
By Wayne Madsen
''The Central Intelligence Agency cobbled together the forerunner of the present Muslim jihadist terrorist network in the late 1970s to battle Soviet troops in Afghanistan. Throughout the next three decades, the CIA continued to maintain links with the jihadist groups, using them as allies for certain operations and attacking them when America’s «commitment» to the «war on terrorism» required an propaganda boost in the world’s media.
An example of the CIA ‘s flip-flopping between using its mujaheddin and jihadist allies and then declaring them «terrorists» and putting a price on their heads is the recent declaration by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the Haqqani network based in North Waziristan, Pakistan is a «foreign terrorist organization».
The Haqqani network, led by Jalaluddin Haqqani, was cobbled together by the CIA and the Pakistani Directorate of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in the 1980s.''

''Poland peels back layers on CIA detention center''
From URUKNET
''On an idyllic lake surrounded by woods and a double row of mesh-and-razor-wire fences about 100 miles north of Warsaw, there stands a secluded villa that the CIA once used to interrogate — and allegedly torture —top al Qaida suspects.
On the grounds of the Polish intelligence-training academy and nicknamed "Markus Wolf" for the former East German spy chief, it’s the focal point for a top-secret probe that Polish prosecutors have launched into how their government tolerated rampant violations of international and Polish law.''
