'Iceland Declares Independence from International Banks'

we in america need independence from the bankers and the military industrial complex...........from axis of logic..........

"Icelanders should be proud of their success in taking their country back over the last few years and we should be proud of them. They serve as an example for us all. Iceland celebrated its 90th anniversary of Self Rule from Denmark in December, 2008 and had gained full independence in 1944. They have now thrown off the shackles of the international banks but it came with a price and didn't happen overnight. Thousands of Icelanders began 


protests against the government on November 22, 2008 when they stormed the parliament and the Central Bank in Reykjavik, Iceland. From the parliament they marched to the police station, demanding the release of protestors held as political prisoners. A number of them were injured when police attacked them with pepper spray and beat them with batons. From the police station they went to the Central Bank. For the first time since the people protested Iceland's membership in NATO in 1949 the government applied Article 100 of the Penal Code against political protests. On June 24, 2010 they delivered a letter with their demands stating,

"Prosecutor's real intention is to send this message: The people’s intervention in State affairs is criminal activity."
