''Montana faces a troubling situation with its public employee
pensions, with shortfalls totaling $3.9 billion, or $9,700 per
household, a senior researcher for the Pew Center on the States told a
legislative committee Tuesday.
“If Montana does not change how it
manages the retirement systems, the pension debt that is owed to current
workers will never be paid for under the plan’s assumptions,” Pew’s
David Draine told the Legislative Finance Committee.''
