"Lawmakers in Olympia on Monday released details of a new deal to help close the state’s budget gap, but it puts off the toughest decisions until next year.
“This is an initial down payment on the problem,” Sen. Ed Murray (D, Seattle) told KIRO 7. Murray is the budget leader in the state senate.
He said the deal cuts $479 million from the state budget. The savings include:
- $50 million on school buses.
- $23 million on mental health assessments.
- $600,000 on education administration."
