"The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has ruled out a military takeover in the country. He said the rumours about any coup amid prevailing.
Addressing troops in Mohmand and Kurram tribal regions near Afghanistan border Gen Kayani categorically dispelled the speculations of any military takeover terming them misleading, being used as a bogey to divert the focus from the real issues,” a military statement cited him as saying this.
The COAS reiterated that Pakistan Army has supported democratic process in the country and will continue its support. The Army is fully cognizant of its constitutional obligations and responsibilities.
He strongly dispelled the speculations of any military takeover and said “these are misleading rumous and are being used as a bogey to divert the focus from the real issues.”
